Erriccson AXE10 Digital Switch Info By Keltic Phr0st =================================== ================
The Erriccson digital switch is one of the most widely used pieces of telecommunications equipment in Operation today. Working alongside more primitive UXD5b, TXE2/4 and 5AESS units, it stands out as a more user friendly and feature packed device.
The switch is also relied on heavily for cellular wireline links, and it is in this area in which it basically shits on the equivalent GEC Plessey equipment from a great height, allowing quicker fault finding, maintennance, and dynamic operation. What follows is a small description of the key components encountered during day to day test operations and maintennance.

DP : Device Processor
TG : Tone Generator
TP : Test Point
RG : Ringing Generator
SULTD : Subscriber Line Test Device
ACCSC : Access Selector Circuit Board. A selector that gives devices
for line test metallic access to a different Extension.
DEVPU : Device Processor Unit, used for control of the SULTD and special
equipment in digital subscriber stages.
EMG's : Equipment Module Groups, points which can be optionally connected.
DTG : Generates up to eight independent tones and under regional
processor control, interrupts and distributes those to tone injection.
EMPC : Works with memory board to form an extension module regional
processor (EMRP); Communicates with surrounding world via buses.
KRD : Keyset code reception device, together with line adaption unit,
is used for reception of subscriber signals in the form of two simultaneous frequencies selected from two seperate groups. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesnt the above sound like the device that handles all the DTMF signalling from subscribers before it is then fed to the switching unit itself? -=KpT=-)
LTAB : Same basic operations as SLTC, but provides different functions.
Provides interface to LIC, tone sending, ring generation supervision.
MEU3 : Memory Board, stores information.
POU : Contains two DC/DC converters which convert the exchange battery
voltage into two regulated voltages independent of each other. Supplies power to magazine in which it is mounted.
REU : DC/AC Converts exchange battery voltage to alternating voltage
for ringing signals.
SLTC : Subscriber Line Test Equipment (SULT) is used to test subscriber
lines. Connects the LTAB board. Connected both to subscriber line and to possible operator via SLCT, ACCS and the test access on LIC.
